Look Alikes

People tell me Mia looks like me.  However, I don't really see it.  What do you think?

I personally think that both of my children look like generic kids.  (Is it bad to say that?)  They are definitely cute enough, but I am afraid if I was separated from them for more than a few years I wouldn't be able to recognize them.  It is me, not them.  I have a problem.

I have this issue where I don't remember faces.  I read an article once that talked about this woman's ability to recognize faces.  Well, on the spectrum of this ability I am the furthest away possible.  Many people have issues remembering names, I have issues remembering names AND faces.  I really am bad at recognizing people that I have just met.  But that is not to say that I don't recognize my children.

This expression seems familiar.

What I am saying is that I don't recognize myself or my husband in my children.  I can't revert my own face back to the age of three or four and see myself in Mia or Jac.  I definitely can't do it with my husband's face.

So you tell me, do our children look like us?

I don't know about jac and jeff, but mia is the spitting image of you. Now the attitude may not be but the face, oh yes.

I think Jac looks like Jeff when he was little, also I can see Mia in me in my childhood pictures especially the ones that I am making faces or frowning.Figure that out.

I am way behind on commenting here! But my first reaction to this post was: ARE YOU KIDDING ME????

I remember the first time Todd met Jeff (I think we were on an evening walk) and we were barely out of earshot when he made an adult / dry humor remark about DNA and paternal testing.

I totally see Jeff in Jac and of the few pictures I've seen of your Mom, there is a definite resemblance in Mia. And yet, I think Jac and Mia could be twins.

But I totally get what you’re saying... For me, I think once I get to know a person I 'see' less of her physical characteristics and more personality traits. So if I'm asked to describe a good friend, it's likely I won't use eye color or stature, but rather I'll say something like "Oh, she's so organized... blah blah blah".

Here's something funny: I have, on more than one occasion, been told by an Asian woman how much Josie looks like me! LOL! But after some discussion, it was determined that she meant Josie has many of the same facial expressions as I do.

I like that theory, that when we get to know people better how they look becomes less important. Faces are hard for me. Now feet! That one is easy, Jac so has Jeff's feet and I am pretty sure that Mia has her grandma's narrow fine boned feet and hands.
